The 2 pictures are located further down the page and are labeled original and reframed. They are both by Salvador Dali.
I was drawn to the original picture because even know the picture was relatively simple it was a perfect example of a good composition. The picture was effective in directing were your eye goes because of its proper use of line direction and its use of space. The horizon line and the line that the cloud makes form a box around the most important part of the image, the mountains and the floating creepy thing. Then the lines on the foreground of the image guide the eye toward the floating thing and give the image depth and a sense of visual movement toward the floating thing. The shadow also gives the image perspective and movement. The image has a large amount of just blank space, which I think was deliberate because Dali must have been trying to provide a feeling of this strange subconscious emptiness that we all have to deal with. I think Dali was trying to get his audience to actively search for meaning in his picture. I reframed the image by zooming in closer to get rid of some of what I thought was unnecessary space. I believe the image still has the same feeling of wide-open nothingness space without too much space. I also tried to line up the picture according to the Rule of thirds.
